COUNTY NEWS
Diamond Dr Paving
Star Paving continues milling and paving operations after the Labor Day holiday this week. Motorists will continue to see daily lane drops for milling and paving operations in each direction as work advances toward the golf course. Residents and businesses along Diamond Drive in this area can expect to see and hear activities related to road construction. Drivers are asked to be cautious when making turns out of side streets adjacent to the work zone; the contractor may be limiting access for left turns out of side streets. Flaggers will be available as needed.
Allow extra time for delays, especially with schools back in session and early release times for the elementary schools occurring on Wednesdays, causing additional traffic congestion in these areas during the lunch hour.
During daytime hours Monday through Friday, crews continue working between 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to accommodate peak commuter times for travel.
Final project completion is set for Sept. 27, weather permitting.

Quemazon sidewalks/curb & gutter repairs
Contractor will be working on the south side of Brisa del Bosque between Quemazon and Corona starting on Tuesday. Pedestrians should follow detour signs. Motorists are asked to slow down and watch for pedestrians in this area, especially near ACT and School bus stops.
Road Striping in Los Alamos and White Rock
Traffic & Streets crews will be working in these areas: Knecht, Oppenheimer, 20th Street, Sherwood and Longview. Expect flagging operations on Tuesday on 35th Street as crews eradicate and replace street markings. Drivers are urged to slow down in work zones and keep a safe distance away from the striping equipment.
NM502 Roundabout and Road Reconstruction (NMDOT project)
The road closure at DP Rd and Trinity ends Friday evening, Aug. 30. The previously used detour will be restored: east-bound traffic detours onto 4th Street and Central Avenue. After a full stop, motorists turn right (east) and travel through the construction zone to continue east-bound out of Los Alamos on NM502. West-bound NM502 traffic entering Los Alamos and approaching the roundabout construction zone detours onto Central Avenue then west to Knecht Street then left to return to Trinity Drive. There is only one lane of traffic in each direction on Central Avenue.
Project hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (No work on Labor Day holiday.) Please slow down, use caution and expect delays in this area, especially during peak commute times.
Traffic advisories from NMDOT are available on www.nmroads.com and motorists are asked to check the site for updates on this project as it proceeds.
TA-21 Clean Up Project – DP Road (N3B project):
No change in truck traffic on DP Rd from last week’s report. Clean-up work on the LANL TA-21 Site at the far eastern end of DP Road continues. Large trucks carrying away demolition debris containers will be exiting DP Rd at an average of approximately three trucks per day. Motorists are asked to be alert for trucks exiting; use caution when entering or exiting DP Rd, as this area is near the NM502 Road Reconstruction project.
Advance Notice: Saturday, Sept. 7 Road Closures to allow for a second move for a large excavator transport to be moved off TA-21, down Main Hill Rd to the White Rock Y and inspection station, then through White Rock on SR4 to Pajarito Rd – time of temporary closures of the Main Hill Rd using LAPD officers is expected 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. – prepare for some delays if traveling through these areas on Sept. 7.
