Joining in the fight to end hunger in Northern New Mexico, El Parasol Restaurants has donated $20,000 to The Food Depot of Northern New Mexico. The funds will be used to support the Food Depot’s efforts to provide services to people in Northern New Mexico.

‘We are honored to provide this support for the worthy cause of helping those in need, especially children,” Ralph Atencio, owner of El Parasol, said. “Our restaurant family strives to give back in each of the communities we operate in, and we have witnessed the good the Food Depot is doing in Northern New Mexico.”

The need for hunger support is critical in New Mexico, One of every six people in the state are in need including one of every four children.

The Food Depot fosters healthy communities by engaging a network of partners and developing solutions to create a hunger-free northern New Mexico. As the food bank for nine counties, The Food Depot provides hunger relief to over 55,000 people experiencing hunger. The Food Depot addresses the crisis of hunger through a combination of three direct service programs and support of a network of over 145 partner nonprofit programs. Each month, The Food Depot provides more than 430,000 meals to people in need—the most vulnerable of our community—children, seniors, working families, and those in ill health.

Since 1958, El Parasol and its sister restaurant El Paragua have been serving up New Mexican cuisine including tacos and tamales in Northern New Mexico to a large following of loyal customers. With locations in Los Alamos, Pojoaque, Española and Santa Fe, the restaurants have developed a reputation for outstanding food and service for three generations. The restaurants operate under parent company Las Brazas Enterprises.
