COUNTY NEWS
Star Paving continues milling and paving operations this week. Work will continue during daytime hours Monday – Friday. Crews will not be working Labor Day weekend. Motorists will continue to see daily lane drops for milling and paving operations in each direction as work advances toward the golf course. Residents and businesses along Diamond Drive in this area can expect to see and hear activities related to road construction. Drivers are asked to be cautious when making turns out of side streets adjacent to the work zone; the contractor may be limiting access for left turns out of side streets. Flaggers will be available as needed.
As part of the project, there is a location, approximately 100 feet in length, that will have to be completely rebuilt due to a previous “settling” issue. This work is in the southbound lanes, not quite a quarter of mile south of the Arkansas intersection. Both southbound lanes will be reconstructed and therefore require closing. Traffic will be shifted into a single lane in both directions utilizing the northbound lanes to accommodate the work zone throughout the week. This work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the week, weather permitting. Drivers are asked to be cautious and courteous through the work zone.
Allow extra time for delays, especially with schools back in session and early release times for the elementary schools occurring on Wednesdays, causing additional traffic congestion in these areas during the lunch hour.
During daytime hours Monday through Friday, crews continue working between 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to accommodate peak commuter times for travel.
Final project completion is set for Sept. 27, weather permitting.

NM502 Roundabout and Road Reconstruction (NMDOT project)
Trinity Drive continues to be closed between DP Road and Central Avenue for another week in order to facilitate the crossing of water, sewer, gas and numerous electrical and communications conduits. Eastbound traffic is being detoured from Trinity Drive onto Knecht St and then onto Central Avenue.
Access to DP Rd and all businesses on Trinity Drive between 15th Street and DP Road will be maintained throughout the closure. All traffic exiting DP Road will be required to turn left onto Trinity Drive and use the appropriate detour routes. Upon completion of the utility crossing, Eastbound traffic will return to the current detour which is 4th St. to Central Avenue and back onto Trinity Drive.
No change to Westbound traffic; Westbound traffic will continue to use the current detour which is Central Avenue to Knecht Street.
Traffic advisories from NMDOT are available on www.nmroads.com and motorists are asked to check the site for updates on this project as it proceeds.
