University of New Mexico Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. James Paul Holloway and Senior Vice Provost Dr. Barbara Rodríguez traveled to Los Alamos on Thursday, August 15, to visit UNM-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

At UNM-LA, Dr. Holloway toured the campus then met with faculty, staff, and campus leadership. UNM-LA Advisory Board members Michelle Hall and Pat Soran also attended the meeting.

“UNM is a critical institution within New Mexico, with students, faculty, and staff who bring a true diversity of identities to the creation and application of new ideas, to the growth of human capacity, and to the provision of support and care for all New Mexicans,” said Dr. Holloway.

He also spoke about the importance of collaboration, and underlined that each branch campus is an integral part of the entire UNM community.

In the afternoon, Dr. Holloway, Dr. Rodríguez and UNM-LA CEO Dr. Rooney met with key individuals at LANL to discuss ongoing and potential opportunities for partnerships.
