The 2019 Los Alamos Summer Concert Series welcomes the Jimmy Stadler Band, Country Opener Austin Van, and youth performer Justin Sanchez to the Ashley Pond Pavilion this Friday, Aug. 16.
Jimmy Stadler is from Columbus, Ohio. Some noteworthy musicians Jimmy has played with include: Texas fiddle/mandolin legend Johnny Gimble, America’s #1 singing cowboy Michael Martin Murphy, Grammy Award winning singer Lynn Anderson, and Lloyd Maines (Dixie Chicks).
Band bass guitarist Dave Toland was born in Bryn Mawr, Penn., but grew up in Massachusetts and Connnnecticut in a musical family. Playing bass professionally in his teens and full time since college, Dave made his way west after observing that the weather and skiing were much better in the Rockies. He has performed on several USO tours of the Pacific and Indian Ocean regions with Junior Brown and Lynn Morris. Mark Clark, drummer, has played with Ottmar Liebert, Jono Manson and John Popper.
Friday’s Opening Band features performances from Austin Van. Growing up the youngest of a very large family among generations of country & western bands, Austin has a deep-rooted love and appreciation for country music. Some of Austin’s musical influences have been Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Dwight Yoakum, Hank Williams Jr. and Elvis Presley. When he performs, he emanates their rhythms, stance, and edge; but he does it with a self-assuredness and charisma all his own.
The Youth Performance features Justin Sanchez, a senior at Saint Michaels High School in Santa Fe who has been a performing vocalist for seven years. He is a member of the Saint Michaels Choral Arts Society and a member of the cross-country and track and field team.
“The Jimmy Stadler Band Stadler has been a Taos favorite rock band for the past few decades and are known for their dynamic shows and winning the Best in Taos: Best Singer / Songwriter and Rock Band Award in 2015, ” said Sancre Productions spokeswoman Monica Griego. As its 13th concert in the series the Sancre Productions team is working in tandem with various Los Alamos County Departments to ensure public safety, ADA accommodations, free parking and shuttle services and a
diverse offering of food truck vendors.
