Cabresto Lake: Trout fishing was good using a variety of small midge and baetis patterns.
Charette Lakes: Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait and Pistol Petes for trout.
Cimarron River: Stream flow near Cimarron on Monday morning was 24.0 cfs. Fishing was good using San Juan worms, spinners and worms for trout. Fishing at the Gravel Pit Lakes was good using PowerBait, worms and Pistol Petes for trout.
Clayton Lake: Fishing was good using nightcrawlers, spinners and PowerBait for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Conchas Lake: Fishing was very good using worms for bluegill. Fishing was fair to good using crank baits, swim baits, Ned rigs, plastic worms, flukes, senkos and tubes for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Richard Phillips reported that he and Jerry Satterfield of Alto caught and released a good number of smallmouth and largemouth bass this past week. They were using root beer green Venom worms and white Bomber crank baits. Luke Grossetete and Freddy Lawrence of Albuquerque caught several white bass, largemouth bass and smallmouth bass over the weekend. They were using crank baits and a vintage torpedo top water from their late grandfather’s tackle box. Fishing was good using crank baits, jerk baits, sassy shad and top water lures for white bass. Fishing was fair using bottom bouncer spinner/worm rigs and minnow rigs for walleye. Fishing was fair using cut bait, homemade dough baits and liver for catfish. The surface water temp was in the low to mid 70s.
Costilla Creek: Stream flow near Costilla on Monday was 110 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Cowles Ponds: Fishing was good using PowerBait for trout.
Coyote Creek: Fishing was good using salmon eggs and worms for trout.
Eagle Nest Lake: Fishing was good using spinners, Kastmasters and PowerBait for rainbow trout. The best reports came from anglers fishing from the bank and using PowerBait. Fishing was very good using small crappie jigs and worms for perch. Fishing was good using streamers, Daredevles, Kastmasters and spinners for northern pike. A few kokanee were caught by anglers trolling for trout.
Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing was good using Pistol Petes, spinners, worms, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.
Fawn Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Gallinas River: Fishing was fair to good using worms, copper John Barrs and Fire Balls for trout.
Hopewell Lake: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, worms, Fire Balls and Pistol Petes for rainbow and brook trout.
Lake Alice: Fishing was good using PowerBait and spoons for trout.
Lake Maloya: Fishing was very good using Pistol Petes, spoons, spinners, copper John Barrs, wooly buggers and PowerBait for rainbow trout up to 20 inches.
Los Pinos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Maxwell Lake 13: Fishing was slow for all species.
Monastery Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Morphy Lake: Closed for a renovation project on the dam and no firm opening date has been set.
Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos on Monday morning was 240 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using worms, shrimp, salmon eggs, wooly buggers and bead head hares ears for a mixed bag of brown and rainbow trout. Jude Gabaldon reported that he and one other angler caught limits of rainbow trout one day this past weekend. They were using shrimp.
Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 140 cfs. Fishing near the hatchery was fair using worms, PowerBait and spinners for trout.
Rio Grande: Stream flow at the Taos Junction Bridge was 4,320 cfs. Fishing was slow for all species.
Rio Hondo: Stream flow on Monday morning was 117 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Mora: Stream flow on Monday morning was 102 cfs. Fishing was good using night crawlers for trout.
Rio Pueblo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Penasco was 109 cfs. Fishing was good using worms for trout.
Santa Cruz Reservoir: Fishing was fair to good using small crank baits, spoons, Pistol Petes, PowerBait and Gulp eggs for trout.
Shuree Ponds: Open for the season July 1.
Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Storrie Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Stubblefield Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using spoons, crank baits and night crawlers for mixed bag of largemouth bass, walleye and catfish
Ute Lake: Fishing was very good using worms and small crappie jigs for big bluegill. Fishing was good using top water lures and flipping soft plastics in shallow water for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing good using top trolling crank baits for white bass. Fishing was fair using jigs, grubs and minnows in the trees for walleye. A few catfish were caught by anglers fishing at night and using homemade dough bait. The surface water temp was in the low 70s. |
