The Friends of the Los Alamos County Libraries, in partnership with the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation, have awarded the 2019 June Ettinger Memorial Scholarship to Anna Lemke for her review of the book An Unseen Angel: A Mother’s Story of Faith, Hope and Healing After Sandy Hook by Alissa Parker.
The scholarship was created to honor those who love books. Applicants were asked to write a personal narrative concerning an age-appropriate book that was not required for school and that has not been translated into a visual medium. The narrative had to demonstrate in what ways the book added to the student’s understanding of the human condition or had enhanced his or her life.
Lemke is the daughter of Terrill and Amy Lemke. She will attend Brigham Young University in the fall where she plans to major in Nursing.
Funds for the June Ettinger Memorial Scholarship are managed by the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation, an independent organization that supports, challenges, and invests in a successful future for all Los Alamos public school students. Learn more about the Foundation at www.lapsfoundation.com.
