Summer classes at the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) will begin Monday, June 3. Registration is open and there are still openings in many face-to-face and online classes. Course schedules are available at various locations around Los Alamos and on the UNM-LA website.

Summer classes provide an opportunity for students to get a head start on their college education and an opportunity for all students to make progress toward their educational goals.

This summer, UNM-LA will offer many core curriculum classes that are transferrable to other universities, which may interest students who have just finished high school, college students who are home for the summer, and summer employees at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Some core courses include Composition, History of Art, Elements of General Chemistry, Macroeconomics, and Introduction to Sociology. Several math classes are also available including College Algebra, Trigonometry, and Calculus I, II and III.

Students interested in Friday only courses may select from Project Management, meeting June 28 and July 19, and Customer Service and Relations, meeting July 12 and July 26.

Other classes in the business area that may be of interest to both degree seeking and non-degree seeking students include Principals of Financial Accounting and Ecommerce.

Students who would normally pay out-of-state tuition at UNM-LA can take advantage of a special program provided by UNM-LA and the New Mexico Higher Education Department, which waives the non-resident portion of tuition during the summer, so that all students pay the in-state rate for the term.

Although a few courses are highlighted above, UNM-LA offers academic classes and academic programs in a variety of subjects to help students who are interested in increasing their knowledge, improving their skills, entering the workforce, or transferring to four-year degree programs. In addition to traditional face to face classes, UNM-LA also offers online and hybrid classes (a combination of face-to-face and online) to help meet the various scheduling issues and learning style preferences of students. There are a few classes that will start later in the semester as well.

Those wishing to enroll can do so either online or on the UNM-LA campus. For questions or more information about enrollment, contact UNM-LA Student Services at 505.662.0332 or visit http://losalamos.unm.edu.
