LWVLA NEWS

The local League of Women Voters of Los Alamos hosted the biennial convention of the League of Women Voters of New Mexico at the Holiday Inn Express the weekend of May 17-19.  Forty-five League delegates from Los Alamos, Santa Fe, the Albuquerque area and Las Cruces gathered to elect a new LWVNM board and adopt positions on issues that they have studied.

Delegates were welcomed by Council Chair Sara Scott.  Other speakers were Christine Chandler, NM House Representative for District 43, Liz Bander representing the national League, and State Land Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard. Lunch was catered by the Los Alamos Co+op Market, the dinner banquet by Pig + Fig, and delegates enjoyed visiting local sights one afternoon.  The emphasis on local food and experiences was appreciated by all the delegates.
