A Los Alamos massage therapist has been arrested by Los Alamos Police Department and charged with criminal sexual contact with a male client.

Gregory Barthell, 57, appeared before Los Alamos Magistrate Judge Pat Casados May 14 and was released on his own recognizance pending trial under pretrial services.

The criminal complaint filed by Det. Matthew Lyon alleges that Barthell unlawfully and intentionally touched or applied force without consent to the unclothed intimate parts of the male client by the use of force or coercion which resulted in personal injury.

According to the statement of probable cause filed by Lyon, the incident allegedly occurred when the male visited Barthell’s place of business Sept. 27 for a massage.

A status hearing is slated for June 14 in Magistrate Court.
