Cabresto Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Charette Lakes: Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. Cimarron River: Stream flow near Cimarron on Monday morning was 79.6 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using copper John Barrs, red San Juan worms, red zebra midges and brassies for trout. Fishing at the Gravel Pit Lakes was very good using PowerBait. Clayton Lake: Fishing was very good using PowerBait and worms for trout up to 20 inches. Fishing was fair using worms and liver for catfish. A few bass were caught by anglers using worms. We had no reports on other species. Conchas Lake: Fishing was very good using senkos, tubes, crank baits, spinner baits, jerk baits, jigs and creature baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was good using minnows and curly tail grubs for crappie. Fishing was good using crank baits, sassy shad and spinners for white bass. Fishing was good using minnows, curly tail grubs, sassy shad, bottom bouncer rigs and crank baits for walleye. Fishing was good using cut bait, homemade dough bait and liver for catfish. The surface water temp was in the low to mid 60s. Costilla Creek: Trout fishing was good using baetis nymph patterns on dry dropper rigs. Cowles Ponds: Fishing was very good using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout. Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week. Eagle Nest Lake: Fishing was good using spinners, small spoons and PowerBait for rainbow trout. Fishing for northern pike was good using PowerBait, crank baits, large streamers, spinners and spoons. Fishing was fair to good using worms for perch. Eagle Rock Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Fawn Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week. Gallinas River: Fishing was good using worms for trout. Hopewell Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Lake Alice: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait for trout. Lake Maloya: Fishing was good using PowerBait for rainbow trout up to 24 inches. Los Pinos River: We had no reports from anglers this week. Maxwell Lake 13: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait for trout. Monastery Lake: Fishing was good using worms, PowerBait and Pistol Petes for trout. Morphy Lake: Closed for a renovation project on the dam and no firm opening date has been set. Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos on Monday morning was 392 cfs. Fishing was fair using worms for a mixed bag of brown and rainbow trout. The best action was reported by anglers fishing pools near the bank. Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 171 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. Rio Grande: Stream flow at the Taos Junction Bridge was 2,390 cfs. Fishing in the Taos area was slow. Fishing through the Albuquerque area was slow to fair using worms, cut bait and stink bait for carp and catfish. Rio Hondo: Stream flow on Monday morning was 88.9 cfs. Trout fishing on the lower Hondo was good using caddis nymphs for a time last week but expect action to slow down with increased runoff. Rio Mora: Stream flow on Monday morning was 100 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. Rio Pueblo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Penasco was 175 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. Santa Cruz Reservoir: Fishing was very good using jigs, Pistol Petes, spoons and PowerBait for trout. Peter Romero reported great fishing on Mother’s Day. He caught and released a good number of rainbow trout in the 15 to 20-inch class and several brown trout. He was using Secret Weapon jigs. Shuree Ponds: Closed for the season. Springer Lake: Fishing was fair to good using streamers, swim baits, jerk baits and crank baits for northern pike. We had no reports on other species. Storrie Lake: Fishing was good using salmon peach PowerBait for trout. Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Ute Lake: HOT SPOT FOR LARGEMOUTH BASS and SMALLMOUTH BASS: Fishing was very good using crank baits, jerk baits, swim baits, Berkley generals, senkos, tubes, creature baits and spinner baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using minnows, curly tail grubs and small jigs for crappie. Fishing was good trolling crank baits for walleye and white bass. Fishing was good using hot dogs, homemade dough bait, liver, night crawlers and dip bait for catfish in shallow water. The surface temp was in the mid 60s. |

Abiquiu Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits and creature baits for smallmouth bass. We had no reports on other species. The water was quite murky. Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 2,160 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Southwest Fishing ReportAlumni Pond: Fishing was slow for all species. Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing was fair using small jigs for crappie. Fishing was fair to good using liver, hot dogs and stink bait for catfish. We had no reports on other species. Bill Evans Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Caballo Lake: Fishing was good using curly tail grubs, minnows and jigs for crappie. Fishing was good using minnows, crank baits and grubs for walleye. Fishing was fair using liver, homemade dough bait and cut bait for catfish. We had no reports on other species. Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing continued to be quite good using minnows, crank baits, curly tail grubs, Gulp minnows and tubes for a mixed bag of crappie, white bass and walleye. Fishing was good using senkos, tubes, curly tail grubs, jerk baits, crank baits, senkos, tubes, jigs and swim baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using cut bait, chicken liver, night crawlers and hot dogs for catfish. Escondida Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Gila River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 109 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week. Glenwood Pond: Fishing was good using PowerBait for trout. Lake Roberts: We had no reports from anglers this week. Percha Dam: We had no reports from anglers this week. Quemado Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. Rancho Grande Ponds: Fishing was good using PowerBait and spinners for trout. Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 359 cfs. Fishing on the river above Elephant Butte was good using liver, homemade dough bait and carp cut bait for catfish. Fishing below Elephant Butte to Caballo was good using curly tail grubs and west angler minnow imitations for white bass. Fishing was good using stink bait and liver for catfish.
