Former Los Alamos Public Schools assistant superintendent and human resources director Gerry Washburn has been named superintendent of Carlsbad Municipal Schools.

Washburn left LAPS in 2015 after some 28 years with the district in various positions. He and his wife Audrey relocated to Roseburg, Ore., where he served as superintendent for three years. Audrey Washburn was a longtime employee of LAPS Transportation.
