Los Alamos Magistrate Court Judge Pat Casados has bound Austin Cox, 27, of Los Alamos over to First Judicial District Court on 17 of 32 charges following an April 12 preliminary hearing.

Cox was arrested Dec. 4 and charged with:

  • 23 counts of criminal sexual penetration of a 13-16 year old
  • 3 counts of trafficking a controlled substance
  • 4 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor
  • 1 count of dangerous drugs conditions for sale
  • 1 count of use of drug paraphernalia.

He was bound over to District Court on 16 of those counts;

  • 10 counts of criminal sexual penetration of a 13-6 year old
  • 3 counts of trafficking a controlled substance
  • 3 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor

Cox was also bound over to District Court on an August 2018 possession of a controlled substance charge. A November 2018 charge of possession of a controlled substance was dismissed by the prosecutor but is subject to being re-filed depending on the outcome of laboratory of the substance.

A December ruling by Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer means that Cox will remain incarcerated until trial.  No date has yet been set for Cox’s arraignment in District Court.
