Photographer Stephen Lee says Mar. 15 was a stunningly beautiful day today in the Valles Caldera National Preserve in Northern New Mexico, and the snow was fantastic. ‘Cross country skiing there is highly recommended. I had the place to myself today. The road into the Preserve was closed due to melting snow and open water but there were nearly unlimited access points along State Road 4’, he said. Vehicle access is currently restricted along the Preserve’s main entrance road but the website says visitors may still access the Preserve on-foot via the Coyote Call and Valle Grande trailheads, and through access points along highway pull-outs.
