Kathak Dance Class To Perform Sunday In Free Recital

The 2019 Kathak class annual dance recital will be held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 17 at The Y Express, 140 Central Park Square.

Kathak is a North Indian Classical dance that combines story telling features temple dances and technical skills from dancers who came with the Persians when they ruled over India. “Katha” means story and Kathak dancers weave different stories through their dances that feature complex footwork, intricate and symmetrical hand movements and graceful pirouettes.

The dancers will be demonstrating various aspects of what they learn in the Kathak class including technical aspects and storytelling.

Admission to the recital is free and refreshments will be sold by Los Alamos Indian Groceries.
