LOS ALAMOS COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

Programming for the free 2019 Summer Concert Series is under contract, and planning for another season of musical acts will be getting under way in February.

“We are excited to bring great music to Los Alamos again this summer,” said Brian Brogan, Community Services Director for Los Alamos County, adding that the music lineup is being negotiated with a variety of artists offering family-friendly, fun, high-energy performances sure to please crowds at Ashley Pond Park on Friday evenings this summer.

Weekly concerts begin in May and continue through September. Each show will start at 7:00 p.m. and is typically preceded by downtown evening events or special promotions with local businesses. Free bus service will be offered through a grant by the DWI Council, in coordination with Atomic City Transit.

Los Alamos County is a major supporter and the contract manager for the summer concerts, through the Community Services Department.

“This year we were excited to have three great proposers,” Brogan said. “After a very tough review process, we chose Northern New Mexico company Sancre Productions.”

“Sancre Productions and its strategic partners Taos Mesa Brewing New Mexico, SoundWorks, and Development Consultant Monica Griego, is working hard to deliver an amazing concert line-up for Los Alamos this summer,” Brogan said.

“We are excited and honored to be bringing our team and talent to Los Alamos this spring,” Griego said. “Our goal is to offer a dynamic set of musical acts and talent that spans a variety of genres appealing to a wide audience – a concert line-up that will be welcomed by the community, supported by sponsors and enticing to visitors traveling to Los Alamos.”

The contract was awarded on Feb. 1 to Sancre Productions after a formal, competitive bid was completed using a Request For Proposal (RFP) process. During that process, vendors are evaluated on a variety of factors ranging from experience, background in providing the services requested, professional staffing, examples of service, and cost. An evaluation team scores the proposals and the highest ranked firm is recommended for the bid award. The information is then forwarded to the procurement office to begin contract negotiations. Three proposals were received by the RFP deadline: Forum Meetings and Events, Sancre Productions and Gordons’ Concerts LLC.

Griego said that Sancre Productions is already working on securing musical acts and booking calendars with several artists. The Los Alamos Summer Concert Series line-up is expected to be announced later in March/early April.

The County has posted all three proposals, the RFP, the contract and the evaluation scoring sheet on the News page of its website. Link below to view all of the documents:
