HOUSE DISTRICT 43 NEWS
In an energetic joint session of both legislative houses Tuesday, Christine Chandler was sworn in as Representative for New Mexico House District 43 — Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Sandoval, and Santa Fe Counties. Along with an historic 38 other elected female house members, nearly half the New Mexico House, Representative Chandler was sworn in just before new Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and Speaker Brian Egolf set out their legislative priorities.
Today, Egolf announced committee assignments for house legislators. Representative Chandler has been tapped to serve on three committees: Taxation and Revenue, House Judiciary Committee and Enrolling and Engrossing (traditionally assigned to freshman legislators). Given her prior 27 years of experience as an attorney at Los Alamos National Laboratory and her four years as an analyst at the legislature, Representative Chandler’s appointments are a natural fit.
Of her appointments Representative Chandler said, “I am excited to serve our district on these two important legislative committees. We are expecting exciting and challenging new policy proposals with a new governor and state house, and I look forward to using my legal experience and representing our district thoughtfully.”
Representative Chandler can be reached during the session in her office Room 203B, by phone at 505-986-4226 or via email christine.chandler@nmlegis.gov and welcomes constituent input directly or through her website’s pre-legislative survey.
