Los Alamos County Councilor Antonio Maggiore encouraged anyone in the community who has an interest in filling the open seat on the Los Alamos County Council to submit a letter to County Manager Harry Burgess prior to Jan. 24.
His request was made at the end of Tuesday’s Council meeting at the Los Alamos Municipal Building.
“I want to issue a public plea to anyone out in the community who wants to serve up here with us, be they glutton for punishment, masochist, whatever, we take all comers.” Maggiore said.
The vacancy on the Council was created when newly-elected House District 43 Rep. Chris Chandler resigned from her position to take up her new office. Her Council term will expire Dec. 31, 2020.
Applicants must be a registered voter and resident of Los Alamos County and cannot be a County Employee. They should submit a letter of interest explaining their background, experience and why they are interested in the position.
Letters should be submitted to Harry Burgess, Los Alamos County Manager, 1000 Central Ave., or emailed to lacmanager@lacnm.us and must be received no later than 5 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 24.
Anyone submitting a letter of interest must attend the Council meeting at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29 in Council Chambers and be prepared to respond to questions from Councilors. The Council expects to interview applicants and make their selection that evening.
