David Rhodes Joins NNMCAB As Deputy Designated Federal Officer, Lee Bishop Ends His Term

David S. Rhodes is taking over as the deputy designated federal officer for the Northern New Mexico Citizens Advisory Board. He is the director of the Office of Quality and Regulatory Compliance for the Department of Energy’s Environmental Management Los Alamos Field Office.

In his position at Los Alamos National Laboratory Rhodes is responsible for establishing and maintaining the quality assurance, radiological cleanup and property release. He is also responsible for Resource Conservation and Recovery Act and other hazardous waste, National Environmental Policy Act, groundwater monitoring and National Pollutant Discharge System regulatory, permitting and compliance programs for EM-LA.

Rhodes was the principal technical lead for the renegotiation of the 2016 Consent Order between DPE and New Mexico Environment Department and still has regulatory responsibility for Consent Order work. He is also the principal technical lead for the renegotiation of the Individual Permit for Stormwater. He was the technical lead for the Los Alamos Cleanup Bridge Contract and the new legacy clean-up contract.

Rhodes takes over from Lee Bishop who received a certificate of excellence from the NNMCAB during its October meeting in Santa Fe.
