New Mexico Environment Department and the Department of Energy’s Environmental Management Los Alamos Field Office field office are hosting a public meeting Thursday at 5 p.m. in Los Alamos.

The meeting will address cleanup priorities for legacy waste at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) for fiscal year 2019. The Consent Order is a settlement agreement between NMED and the DOE that was issued in 2016 and provides the process by which investigation and remediation of contamination from legacy waste management activities at LANL occurs.  It both guides and governs the ongoing cleanup of legacy waste at LANL through a campaign‐based approach and the annual planning process.

EM-LA manager Doug Hintze and designated agency manager Arturo Duran are slated to present information concerning cleanup work completed in fiscal year 2018 and the coming year’s cleanup milestones and target dates.

The meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the Los Alamos Municipal Building at 1000 Central Avenue.
