It’s time again to bag or box up donations of food and supplies for pick-up Saturday by your Atomic City letter carrier. Donations should be placed near your mailbox for pick-up.
You can also go to Smith’s Marketplace in Los Alamos or Smith’s Food and Drug Center in White Rock where Cub Scouts will accept your donations from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Venture Scouts will help collect, sort and store the food Saturday and donations will be distributed by LA Cares to families with children or the elderly who need help.
Suggestions on what to donate include:
Macaroni & cheese
100% juices in 1/2 gal plastic containers
Canned fruits & vegetables
Boxed mashed potatoes
Low-fat/salt canned meats (tuna, chicken, salmon)
Low-sugar cereals
Spaghetti sauce
Noodles & other pasta
Tuna & chicken helpers
Hearty-style soups
Beef stew
Canned meals (e.g. Spaghettios/Chef Boy R Dee)
Tomato products
Sugar, flour, cooking oil
Jelly/jam
Peanut butter
Canned beans & dried pinto beans
Rice
Powdered milk
Coffee & teas
Salad dressings & mayonnaise
Crackers & cookies
Especially for Kids: healthy school lunch items;
Small 100% juice boxes
Granola bars & snack crackers
Fruit cups
Nuts, small puddings & Jello
Other items:
Paper towels
Toilet paper
Laundry detergent
Personal care (bath soap, shampoo, deodorant, razors, shaving cream, tooth brushes & toothpaste)
Diapers of all sizes
Baby wipes
