For the eighth consecutive year, the International Association of Firefighters Local #3279 in Los Alamos is recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month by selling shirts to raise funds for the New Mexico Cancer Center in Albuquerque. Modeling the shirts for the Los Alamos Report are, from left, Firefighter Allen Quintana, Driver/Engineer Adrian Carabajal and Local #3279 president Driver/Engineer Bert Quintana. The shirts may be purchased throughout October at Los Alamos Fire Department Administration Offices, 999 Central Ave., Suite 200. They cost $10.50 if paying with a card or $10 cash. Quintana said all profits from sales of the shirts will be sent to the Cancer Center which provides monetary assistance to people for their non-medical needs while being treated for cancer. The Center assists with such expenses as hotel rooms while traveling for treatment, meals and gasoline for getting to and from appointments. For more information, call 505.662.8310.
