State Police Investigate Homicide Near Ohkay Owingeh Casino

Ohkay Owingeh, NM – On October 4, 2018 around 9:30 p.m., the New Mexico State Police received a call of multiple victims with gunshot wounds on NM State Road 68 at mile marker 2, near the Ohkay Owingeh casino. State Police discovered a blue Subaru WRX in the northbound lane of traffic with four apparent gunshot victims. The victims included two males and two females. Officers immediately began rendering medical aid to the victims.

One male in the vehicle was deceased of apparent gunshot wounds. Two females and another male were injured and transported to area hospitals. The three victims transported are expected to survive. The names and further information about the victims will not yet be released.

The New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau is investigating this scene and homicide. This scene remains active. Anyone with any information should call State Police.

NM State Road 68 is closed at the Ohkay Casino traffic light and traffic is being diverted around the scene through the casino parking lot. The public should expect the road to be closed for several hours while the scene is being processed.

No further information is available, and no interviews will be done at this time as the investigation is ongoing. When more information is available it will be released.
