Los Alamos Youth Lacrosse participated in the 2026 Santa Fe Jamboree on April 25–26. The 12U team (ages 11 and 12) went undefeated through five games to capture the tournament championship trophy.
The team played Santa Fe, El Paso, and Salida on the opening day of the tournament, showing strong teamwork and getting goals from every team member over the course of the day. The team excelled in the 6 v 6 format of the tournament, which favored the speed and offensive strength of the team.
On the second day of the tournament, the Los Alamos team dominated the Albuquerque Duke City Bears in a morning game to secure an undefeated record in the round-robin portion of the tournament. The team faced the Bears again in the championship game, which was a hard fought contest. Both teams held leads throughout the game, but Los Alamos midfielder Corbin Wakeford scored the final go-ahead goal with less than two minutes to play. The team’s strong defense held off the Bears through the final minutes, ending the game with a 9-8 victory.
The team will finish its season with tournaments in Salida, Colorado, and at Balloon Fiesta Park in Albuquerque over the next two weekends. Los Alamos Youth Lacrosse plays a season from mid-March through May, with tournament weekends at locations across New Mexico, southern Colorado, and El Paso, Texas. Los Alamos Youth Lacrosse is excited to welcome new players, and more information can be found at laylax.org
