
We are saddened to announce the passing of Mary Renfro. She was our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. At the time of her death, she was at home at the Morada Senior Living facility in Albuquerque, NM. Mary was the ripe old age of 99 years, just shy of her 100th birthday.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Richard Renfro, sons, Steven “Butchie” and Larry Renfro. Her sisters, Lora Mae Gardner, Betty Swan Hardin, and Caroline Smith Riffi.
Mary is survived by her son, Greg and wife, Deanne Renfro of Trabuco Canyon, California, her grandchildren, Steven Renfro and partner, Allison Lotspeich of Albuquerque, Julie Renfro, Ian Renfro both of Trabuco Canyon, CA and her great-grandchildren, Genevieve and Jack Renfro, and their mother, Jennifer Renfro of Albuquerque, Mary’s sister, Jo Diamond of Nixa, MO and brother, Ronald and wife, Mary Anne Walker of St. Peter’s, MO and countless nieces, and nephews.
Mary always had a great spirit, filled with optimism and adventure. She was always seeing the positive in situations and willing to take on any challenge. She had an unshakable faith in God and read the bible regularly as well as anything published on the history of the bible and religion. She loved her family, her friends, and her life. She was the kind of person who would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need. She will be missed by all who knew her. We can all take comfort in knowing she will be welcomed into Heaven and reunited with her loved ones.
Viewing and Visitation will be at Fellowship Methodist Church from 12:00-1:00 PM on Monday, April 13, 2026. Funeral services will follow at Fellowship Methodist Church, 719 W Sumner Ave, Fort Sumner, NM on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 1:00PM. After the service, Mary will be laid to rest at the Fort Sumner Cemetery located at 1335 N 17 th St. alongside her beloved Richard.
