League Of Women Voters Los Alamos Wins 100 Men Who Care March Giving Event

100 MEN WHO CARE NEWS RELEASE

Los Alamos 100 Men Who Care members selected League of Women Voters of Los Alamos as the recipient of their March 2026 giving award. The group meets quarterly for a 30-minute social with simple food and drink, and then to hear three pre-selected organizations make five minute presentations. The group then votes on the organizations, and each member writes a check for $100 to the winner.

In addition to the LWV, the group heard from Self Help and Los Alamos Historical Society. Thirty members attended the event on March 12, which was held at the SALA event center and catered by China Palace. Members donated a total of $3750 to LWV, who will use the funds to print their popular voter guides for upcoming elections. The guides will be mailed out to every household in Los Alamos County.

We also heard an update from First Born Program of Los Alamos Executive Director Kristi McBride; First Born was the winner of our December 2025 event. McBride described how they used the awarded funds to host their first Family Connections Event at the Betty Ehart Senior Center, with snacks, crafts and table talk discussions around the history of Los Alamos. Remaining funds will be used to connect established community members with new families in the community through cooking and other activities. If you are interested in getting connected, contact First Born at welcome@firstbornla.org.

The venue and catering were sponsored by Enterprise Bank and Trust with Los
Alamos Community Foundation serving as our partner and fiscal agent. This sponsorship allows one hundred percent of 100 MWC donations to go to the non- profit organization.
