LAPS NEWS RELEASE

Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) is currently accepting open enrollment applications for the 2026–2027 school year. Students who reside outside of Los Alamos County and wish to attend a Los Alamos public school may learn more and submit an application at:
https://www.laschools.net/families-students/registration.

Applications are available for students eligible for preschool, and kindergarten through 12th grade. Los Alamos Public Schools continues to be recognized as one of the highest performing districts in New Mexico. All seven LAPS schools have earned “Spotlight School” designations from the New Mexico Public Education Department, recognizing outstanding school performance and student achievement. The district has five elementary schools, one middle school and one high school.

LAPS students benefit from strong academic programs at each school site, as well as a wide range of opportunities, including advanced placement coursework, career technical education, athletics, art and music programs, a variety of clubs and activities, and student support services

The first day of school for the 2026–2027 school year is August 10, 2026.
