LAFD NEWS RELEASE
The Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) will place three new fire engines into service during the week of March 16, marking an important investment in public safety for the Los Alamos County community. Each engine will be welcomed into service with a traditional fire service “push-in ceremony” at its respective station.
These state-of-the-art vehicles incorporate the latest technology, while addressing modern health and safety standards for firefighters. The new engines will serve as dependable partners in the LAFD mission for the next 15 to 20 years, enhancing the Department’s ability to protect and serve the community, the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and surrounding areas.
“We sincerely thank LANL for their support in making this important investment possible,” Fire Chief Erik Litzenberg said.
Members of the public and community partners are invited to attend the push-in ceremony for Engine 3 at White Rock Fire Station 3 (129 N.M. 4) on Monday, March 16, at 2 p.m.
Push-in ceremonies are a long-standing fire service tradition dating back to the days of horse-drawn apparatus, when firefighters would physically push engines back into the station after returning from a call. Today, the ceremony symbolizes placing a new apparatus into service and welcoming it as part of the Department’s fleet.
LAFD looks forward to sharing this milestone with the community as these new engines begin serving residents, visitors and partners throughout the region.
