NCRTD NEWS RELEASE
The North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) is proud to announce it has once again been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Triple Crown Award.
This award recognizes outstanding achievement across all three of GFOA’s premier financial reporting programs.
The Triple Crown Award honors governments that have earned all three of the following distinctions within a single fiscal year:
- Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR)
- Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting (PAFR Award)
- Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the annual Budget Book
This year, NCRTD received the Triple Crown based on the strength of its 2024 Annual Report, its Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for FY 2024, and its FY 2025 Budget Book. Achieving high standards across all three program areas underscores the District’s commitment to transparency, accuracy, and excellence in public financial management.
Recognition for Excellence Across All Major Financial Reports
The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting was awarded for NCRTD’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024—an honor reserved for agencies that clearly communicate their financial story with full transparency and meet rigorous program standards.
The District also received the PAFR Award for its 2024 Popular Annual Financial Report, recognizing exceptional communication, reader appeal, and creative presentation of complex financial information to the public.
Additionally, the FY 2025 Budget Book earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, demonstrating NCRTD’s adherence to best practices in financial planning, policy documentation, operations guidance, and communications.
10th Consecutive Year of National Recognition
This year’s honor marks 10 consecutive years that NCRTD has received GFOA awards—reinforcing the District’s longstanding dedication to excellence in financial stewardship.
“We are honored to receive the GFOA Triple Crown Award once again, especially as we celebrate our 10th consecutive year of national recognition,” Nick Sofoul, Executive Director of the NCRTD said. “This achievement reflects the hard work and professionalism of our finance team and leadership across the District. Their commitment to accuracy, transparency, and strong financial management ensures we continue to deliver exceptional service to the communities we serve.”
