BANDELIER NATIONAL MONUMENT NEWS
What does the winter solstice mean to you? Is it a time for quiet reflection on the past year and setting intentions for the year ahead? Or a time for merriment, holiday lights, and celebration? Either way, Bandelier National Monument invites you to join us in celebrating the shortest day of the year with one of our popular Solstice Walks!
We’re offering four walks this year:
•Friday, December 19 • Saturday, December 20 • Sunday, December 21 • Monday, December 22
Each walk begins at 7:00 AM at the Bandelier Visitor Center. No advance sign-up is necessary.
A park ranger will lead you on a ½ mile guided walk to watch the sun rise above Tyuonyi Pueblo. Be sure to dress in plenty of layers, because early mornings in Frijoles Canyon can be quite chilly!
Our solstice walks are free, but our standard park entrance fees still apply. Sirphey’s at Bandelier, the park café, is closed for the season so you will need to pack your own food and drinks if you would like them.
