LIVE IN LOS ALAMOS NEWS RELEASE
Every year Max Gomez has brought his holiday show to Los Alamos, those able to get tickets have left feeling they witnessed something special. This year’s appearance promises to amplify that feeling, with Gomez touring behind his latest album, Memory Mountain, which has earned the top spot on alt-country charts ahead of artists including Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Rodney Crowell and Todd Snider. It seems the Taos raised singer-songwriter is finally getting the recognition he has worked so hard to achieve.
Gomez will bring his friends and their holiday show to Fuller Lodge for the sixth time on Sunday, December 28, and will most likely be playing to a packed house; at press time fewer than half of the available tickets remained unsold.
“Max has built a devoted fanbase here in Los Alamos,” said Jonathan Lathrop, President of the nonprofit Live in Los Alamos. “He played five times for us before he started the holiday shows, so by the time he rolled those out folks knew to grab tickets fast. Only once have we still had tickets available the day of the show.”
While billed as a holiday concert, that description represents the season in which it occurs more than a theme for the show. There will be an original holiday themed song or two played, but the bulk of tunes will come from Gomez’s extensive collection of originals, including New Mexico, which Lathrop recommends to anyone who has had an encounter with someone a bit ignorant about the 47th state.
Los Alamos Schools Credit Union is the exclusive outlet for Live in Los Alamos tickets that do not include a service fee. The public is welcome to purchase tickets there for $38 (cash or check only) or can purchase them online at www.liveinlosalamos.com for $43. Doors will open at 6:00pm on the 28th, with Bathtub Row offering beer and wine, and a meal available for purchase from a local restaurant (see website for more details). Music will begin at 7:00.
