Places and Spaces Los Alamos is excited to announce the first winner of the Local Love Holiday “Snap, Tag, and Share” contest! Congratulations to Karen Anslinger Holmes, who has won the Week 1 $100 Local Love Gift Card for showing her Local Love at Boomerang Consignment and Gaia Gifts. This gift card may be used for purchases at any of the 100+ local businesses in Los Alamos and White Rock, and is the first of many prizes to be distributed throughout the holiday season.
The Local Love Holiday Contest can be entered by visiting local businesses in the Los Alamos and White Rock area, snap a photo or selfie, tagging it in a social media post with the #lalocallove hashtag, and sharing it on your public timeline. Weekly $100 Gift Cards are being awarded throughout the contest and more than $1500 in total prizes will be awarded.
The contest is ongoing, and we invite everyone to participate in Week 2! Entries can be submitted anytime and as many times as you want between now and the entry deadline of January 9, 2026. Entries for the weekly prize drawing are cut off at midnight on Fridays, with winners announced the following Sunday.
The great news is that all valid entries are cumulative. If you didn’t win the weekly drawing this week, your entry is still in the running for both subsequent weekly drawings and the Grand Prizes awarded in January.
Easy Entry: Snap, Tag, and Share
Entering is simple:
- Snap a photo or selfie of a purchase, a purchase receipt, or your visit to a local business in the Los Alamos or White Rock area,.
- Tag it in a public social media post with the required #lalocallove tag and the name of the business.
- Share the post on your Facebook or Instagram public timeline.
Remember, failure to post on your public timeline means that your entry will not be seen. Posts that include an optional comment, review, testimonial, or story may also qualify your entry for consideration for selected Grand Prizes.
Looking Ahead: Compete for Grand Prizes
While weekly winners receive a $100 Local Love Gift Card based on a random drawing, participants should also look ahead to the Grand Prizes, which will be awarded in January. Entries received during the duration of the contest are eligible for these prizes.
- Most Posts Submitted: Awarded to the player who submits the highest total number of qualifying posts (visits to unique businesses), earning a $250 Local Supporter Card.
- Best Overall Story: Awarded to the post with the most compelling, enthusiastic, and interesting testimonial/comment, earning a $150 Local Supporter Card.
- Highest Receipt Total: Awarded to the single valid entry that includes a photo of the receipt with the highest total purchase (business name, date, and total must be clearly visible) and wins a $150 Local Supporter Card.
- Other Grand Prize categories include tastiest-looking meal, most unique or unusual purpose, best-looking drink, and best video short.
All entries received before the January 9, 2026 deadline are eligible for Grand Prizes.
