BOOMERANG NEWS RELEASE

Editor’s note: Congratulations to my friends at Boomerange/Gaia on your 11th anniversary. Thank you for the joy you bring to the community and the incredible opportunities you provide for retail therapy. Greetings from the Oregon Coast!

Where do you buy SOUVENIRS in Los Alamos? Where can you find unique GIFTS for adults and kids? A kitty alien desk toy? A Star trek dress-up magnet set? A pair of Patchwork overalls that will stop traffic? Einstein socks? Periodic table socks? Snarky fridge magnets? Where indeed! If you haven’t been into Boomerang Consignment and Gaia Gifts in the last 11 years, you simply don’t know what you are missing.

Boomerang has been in business for more than 23 years, but has been bringing joy to our Los Alamos community for the past 11. They will celebrate this monumental achievement (they survived through COVID!) on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025.

Owner Anna Dillane says, “Someone asked me recently, How do you survive here? The answer is like a math formula. You take a healthy dose of hard work, pepper it with naive optimism and creativity, and stir in a passion for the community and making people feel welcomed.”

She smiles her easy smile and continues to hang clothing, which she does all day long, everyday! Heather Elliot has been with Boomerang for almost the whole time. Heather brings her vast artistic talents to creating outfits and displays that help make a visit to the shop so memorable. People often buy the outfits she creates right off the rack- including the jewelry! When asked what her favorite part of the job is, Heather says, “ Top three? Is that okay? One. My customers-I get to help so many people they are just lovely. Two. The stuff! I love all the unique items I see everyday. You will hear me squeal with delight as new inventory comes in everyday. 3. My boss. Anna is the kindest and wisest person I have ever met. I am so lucky to have her in my life and get to spend time with her everyday!”

What makes Boomerang so different? Ask around town and people give different answers. The vibe in the store is fun, quirky and welcoming. No matter who you are, who you love, or what your taste; you will find something you love at Boomerang. 2. The people. The staff makes sure that every person through the door is greeted with a smile and made to feel welcome and cared about. 3. The stuff. Inventory changes literally daily and the quality is so high. The gifts are unique and unusual, the consignment items are all gasp-worthy, and there are plenty of deals to be had! Johnny Was, Free People, Anthropologie, Chicos, REI, and North Face are just a few of the high end brands you will find at a fraction of what it would cost new. One customer said, “Its like they have curated the best of the best and left all the other items (the ones no one wants) out. I go every week because they get new stuff in every day. I don’t want to miss
out.”
