
COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
In observance of Thanksgiving, Los Alamos County government offices and services will join other federal, state, and local governments and close on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28, 2025.
The County’s administrative offices, senior centers, Atomic City Transit service, and the Environmental Services division are closed on both days. In addition, the following facilities will close or have modified hours:
- White Rock Branch and Mesa Public libraries –
- Wednesday before Thanksgiving: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Thursday–Thanksgiving Day: Closed
- Friday after Thanksgiving: Open from 1 to 5 p.m.
- Aquatic Center and Leisure Lagoon –
- Wednesday before Thanksgiving: Open 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Thursday–Thanksgiving Day, Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving: Closed
- Golf Course –
- Wednesday before Thanksgiving: Range and Golf Shop open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tee times available beginning at 1:30 p.m. All rentals must be returned by 5 p.m. - Thursday–Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving: Closed
- Wednesday before Thanksgiving: Range and Golf Shop open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Ice Rink –
- OPENING DAY: Friday after Thanksgiving: Open 12 to 5 p.m.
- Open Gym Programs – All programs are canceled November 26-28.
- Environmental Services – The Eco Station and Overlook Convenience Center will be closed on Thursday–Thanksgiving Day, and Friday after Thanksgiving. No residential or commercial trash or recycling collection service will take place on these days.
- Residential Customers: If the closure dates fall on your regular collection day, please place your roll carts at the curb for collection on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
- Commercial Customers: If your business is normally scheduled for collection on the closure dates, dumpsters will be serviced on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
- Regular hours will resume on Saturday, Nov. 29.
- Atomic City Transit – Regularly scheduled bus service will not operate on Thursday or Friday and ACT MyRide services will not be available. Regular service will resume on Monday, Dec. 1.
- Utilities will be closed for regular business, however crews are on-call for emergencies 24/7 by calling 505-662-8222.
