Eighty-two Los Alamos High School students were inducted into the National Honor Society during a recent ceremony held in Duane Smith Auditorium. Parents, families and friends were on hand to congratulate this year’s inductees.
Principal Eric Ziegler was the keynote speaker, touching on the four pillars of NHS: Character, Scholarship, Leadership and Service.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our new National Honor Society inductees,” Ziegler said. “They represent the very best of Los Alamos High School—students who learn with curiosity, lead with compassion, serve with purpose, and live with integrity. Their dedication to excellence inspires all of us.”
LAHS NHS Sponsor Kyla Hooker presented certificates to each student. This is her second year as NHS sponsor.
“I am so proud of our National Honor Society students for the way they lead with kindness and make a lasting impact on our community,” she said. “I look forward to seeing how our new inductees continue that legacy of leadership and service.”
School Board President Melanie Colgan and Assistant Superintendent Carter Payne were also on hand to congratulate new inductees. Current NHS officers Sophia Sisneros, president; Emma Riede, vice president; Lilia Viteva, secretary; and Gyasi Atta-Fynn, treasurer, participated in the candlelighting ritual following the presentation of certificates to the new members.
There are currently 152 members of the LAHS National Honor Society.
