It was announced Monday, September 8, that Carson Hick of White Rock, 2023 graduate of Los Alamos High School and a junior at the University of Kentucky, has been named to the 2025-26 USA Swimming National Team. The men’s team includes 67 of the country’s most elite swimmers and 21 represented universities, Hick being among those selected for his national team debut.
The selection process for the National Team is based purely on times. The six athletes with the fastest times at any qualifying competition for each individual Olympic event were chosen as part of the team.
Coming off impressive sophomore year finishes at the NCAAs this past season, Carson dropped 13 seconds off his best time to clock 14:30.35 in the 1650 freestyle, finishing sixth overall. He represented Team USA at the World University Games in Germany, picking up the sixth-place finish in the 1500M freestyle and placing fourth in the same race at the US Toyota Nationals, where he set best times in the 400 free (3:50.11), 800 free (7:56.16) and 1500M freestyle (15:05.87).
“I am so proud of Carson, his teammates, and his coaches for their commitment to world class swimming and can’t wait to see what the next few years will bring for him and the entire program at UK,” said Head Coach Bret Lundgaard.
