Los Alamos Fire Department assisted by Los Alamos Police Department, conducted a high angle rescue operation shortly after 5 p.m. on July 6 at the Anniversary Trail after Damon Giovanni, 82, of Los Alamos fell to his death during a late afternoon solo hike. LAFD officials. Mr. Giovanelli was reported missing by his wife, when he failed to return home following his hike. Sadly, efforts by first responders from LAPD and LAFD failed to resuscitate Mr. Giovannelli. No foul play is suspected.
