Board Of Public Utilities To Hear From Consultants June 4 On Overview Of Electrification Study For Los Alamos County

COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

Because electrification is a hot topic these days, community members interested in learning how the current electrification study for Los Alamos County is going so far are welcome to attend the Los Alamos Board of Public Utilities (BPU) meeting for an overview on Wednesday, June 4, at 5:30 p.m.

The BPU commissioned the study to examine the assumptions and impacts of community-wide conversions from natural gas appliances and gasoline-powered cars to all-electric appliances and electric vehicles.

The study is being conducted by 1898 & Co., a division of Burns and McDonnell Engineering Consultants. The consultants will explain assumptions for the study and forecast impacted growth in electrical demand by the years 2040 and 2055. They will further examine how Los Alamos County’s electrical distribution system may be impacted by the forecasted loads.

As always, BPU’s work sessions and regular monthly meetings are open to the public, both in person and online. The meetings are held in Council Chambers in the Los Alamos County Municipal Building at 1000 Central Ave. Meeting agendas and packets, as well as the Zoom link for those who wish to attend remotely, can be found online at ladpu.com/BPULiveProceedings.
