LTE: Overlook Field Renovations Were Done Last Year

BY JOHN ROBERTS

County Council,

Let’s make this quick and simple. The two fields, Dara Jones and Hope Field, at Overlook that the County proposes to turf WERE renovated and sodded LAST YEAR by Los Alamos Landscaping and More.

“Renovations included laser grading and leveling the fields for drainage, installing new sod, replacing irrigation heads and testing the system, rebuilding pitchers’ mounds, and installing new bases and anchors on softball and baseball fields”*. ““We’re excited to get this project going to improve the safety of our fields,” Parks Superintendent Wendy Parker said.”*.

Both fields are looking really good compared to all the other fields. If that’s not a waste of our tax money, then nothing is at this point. I highly, highly recommend County Council members actually go down to Overlook and WALK each and every field so they can understand how bad other fields are and how good Hope and Dara Jones are. All the other fields are very dangerous for ankles and knees and could at least use professional leveling/filling.

I will admit I have not been able to go to the public input that county holds on this project or join the zoom, but I highly recommend anyone that finds this a waste of money contact the LAC turf study and county council at lacturfstudy@nv5.com , CountyCouncil@lacnm.us
