COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

Los Alamos County has announced the launch of a new eComment tool designed to enhance public engagement for County Council meetings. The eComment function allows individuals to submit online public comments for upcoming Council meetings once the agenda is published, typically the Friday before the meeting.

Online comments may be submitted until noon on the day of the Council meeting, and copies will be provided to each councilor before the start of the meeting. This tool enables residents to participate from anywhere.

The tool is available today with the agenda for the Council’s August 27, 2024, Regular Session. To submit a comment, visit the Granicus website. Utilize the search filters to find the meeting with the published agenda and select “eComment” in the far-right column. Agenda items open for public comment will be marked with a “Comment” tag. After selecting the tag and adding a comment, first-time users will be prompted to register and verify their email. Users should check their spam or junk folders if the verification email is not in the inbox.

eComment, hosted by Granicus, allows residents to review agenda item details, indicate their position on an item, and leave comments from any device. After creating an account, users may log into the system whenever they wish.

Deputy County Manager Linda Matteson expressed her enthusiasm about the launch, saying, “The new eComment function is a significant step forward in our commitment to improving public involvement. Incorporating tools such as online commenting enables residents to participate in local governance.”
