Celebrate New Mexico’s Birthday Jan. 6 At The Hans Bethe House

HISTORICAL SOCIETY NEWS RELEASE

The Los Alamos Historical Society invites the community to join in commemorating New Mexico’s statehood on Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Hans Bethe House from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This celebration will feature an enchanting selection of books relating to New Mexico, read aloud by the talented local actor, Tomás Farish. Learn about New Mexico’s vibrant history and culture through these engaging stories that promise to entertain audiences of all ages. 

As you enjoy listening to these tales help yourself to complimentary hot chocolate and cookies and unleash your creativity at our bookmark-making station. It’s a fantastic opportunity for families both old and new to New Mexico to learn about the culture and connect with New Mexico’s uniqueness. 

This event promises to be and engaging and educational experience. Don’t forget, the History Museum is free to Los Alamos residents. The Historical Society encourages residents to make an afternoon of this event and visit the other exhibits on the museum campus, like the Guest Cottage, Romero Cabin, and Oppenheimer House (while not yet open to the public, visitors are welcome to explore the grounds and peer through the windows of the Oppenheimer House). 

About Tomás Farish:

Tomás Farish has performed in many productions with the Los Alamos Little Theater, including “Harvey”, “The Dining Room”, and “Blithe Spirit”, with LALO in “Addams Family, the Musical”, and with DALA in “The Ratcracker”. He has also been cast in many staged readings including “Reykjavik” for the Historical Society, “Still in the Game”, and “The Night Before”, presented at venues across Northern NM. In addition to acting, he enjoys dancing Tango, Blues, and Swing.
