County: Deadline Approaches To Submit Letters Of Interest To Fill County Council Vacancy

Los Alamos citizens interested in submitting a letter of interest to fill the council seat vacated by Sean Williams have until Monday, March 28 by 5 p.m., according to Los Alamos County officials. Letters should be submitted to the County Manager Steven Lynne at 1000 Central Ave., Suite 350, Los Alamos, NM 87544 or by email to lacmanager@lacnm.us and include the interested candidate’s background, experience, and reasons for applying.  

Per the Charter for the Incorporated County, Article II, 200.1, eligible candidates must be qualified voters who reside in the County and are not otherwise employed by the County. All candidates must participate in person at the April 5 Council meeting at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers, 1000 Central Ave., Los Alamos, NM. Councilors will ask each candidate several questions and then select the individual that evening to complete the vacated term, which expires on December 31, 2024. 

The April 5 Council meeting will be an in-person meeting with the ability for members of the public to join virtually through Zoom. The meeting agenda, supporting documentation and Zoom link will be available Friday, April 1, on the County’s Legistar website.
