LAHS Hilltalkers Model UN Team Earns ‘Best Large Delegation Award’ At Lobo Model United Nations

Members of the Los Alamos High School Hilltalkers Model UN team recently traveled to the University of  New Mexico to compete at the Lobo Model United Nations. Eighteen Hilltalkers participated at this Model UN conference in a variety of committees and simulations. 

“The Hilltalkers have attended the Model United Nations conference in Santa Fe since 2019 but this year has brought renewed interest in Model UN and, because of this interest, we are taking advantage of all of the opportunities for Model UN in New Mexico,” said LAHS Hilltalkers Coach Margo Batha. “We are fortunate to have Ms. Tacarra Lake, a new teacher at Los Alamos High School, providing support  and coaching to our Model UN students.” 

Los Alamos High School earned the Best Large Delegation award.

Violet Henderson, The Dark Mark Rises, Outstanding Delegate 

Olivia Koo, The Dark Mark Rises, Best Delegate 

Max Posada, Concert of Europe (Germany 1), Outstanding Delegate 

Dana Roelofs, Concert of Europe (Ottoman Empire 1), Best Delegate 

Izze Thomas, Escalation in Eastern Europe (United Arab Emirates 1), Outstanding Delegate 

Emma Frost, Hong Kong Rising (Carrie Lam), was awarded the “Wolfie Award”, an award given to the  person who best exemplifies the spirit of Model UN and global cooperation

Model UN is a simulation of the UN General Assembly and its other multilateral bodies where students  perform an ambassador role while debating topics such as gender equality, climate action, global health,  and more. Student Model UN teams may be found at high schools, colleges and universities.
