COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
Survey results from the Los Alamos County’s Chapter 18 Nuisance Code are in and posted online, according to the Los Alamos County’s Community Development Department (CDD). The survey findings will be presented to the County Council at the Tuesday, Feb. 22 Council meeting at 6 p.m. and to the Community Development Advisory Board on Monday, Feb. 28 at noon.
CDD contracted with Polco’s National Research Center to conduct a survey of residents as a part of the public input process to help inform CDD and Dekker/Perich/Sabatini on the Chapter 18 Nuisance Code update. This section of code covers weeds, outdoor storage, dilapidation, refuse and rubbish, and other threats to public health, safety, and welfare occurring on private property.
Invitations to partake in the survey were mailed to 5,400 randomly selected households to ensure a statistically valid sample size. Of that amount, 22 percent responded, completing and submitting surveys. The demographic profile of survey respondents was compared to that of the entire community and statistically adjusted accordingly.
In addition to the random sample survey, all residents were invited to take the open participation survey publicized by CDD. A total of 233 individuals completed surveys through this method.
CDD and DPS thank everyone who took the time to provide their valuable feedback. To view the survey results, visit the Chapter 18 Nuisance Code Update webpage or call CDD at 505.662.8120.
