Rexanne Barrera 67, passed away at home surrounded by her family on January 2, 2022. She was born on June 27, 1954 in Los Alamos, New Mexico to William and Mary Hampton. Rexanne graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1972, and then went on to attend Mesa College in Grand Junction, Colorado. After graduating from Mesa College she lived for a short time in Maine and then returned to New Mexico and lived in Albuquerque to be close to her family.
In 1976 she met Raymond Barrera, and they were married shortly thereafter. Ray introduced Rexanne to Karate and she eventually earned her 4th Degree Black Belt in Karate and her 4rd Degree Black Belt in Kobudo. She also assisted Ray for many years running the Dojo.
Rexanne was a very hard worker. Among other places, she worked for many years at Greybar Electric and GE Electric. She built a successful home based business with her husband Ray, and worked with her sister in a legal courier business.
Rexanne took great pride in her home and making people feel welcome and comfortable. She loved to host family gatherings and entertain. She was the hub of the family.
She fought her short battle with cancer with dignity, strength, grace and faith. She will be remembered by both the outward and inward beauty she possessed, and the joy and light that she brought to everyone she met. Rexanne’s passing will leave a very large empty space in our hearts.
