County Clerk’s Office To Limit In-Person Services As COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Continues

COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

Due to growing COVID-19 concerns, and in continuing to align with  directives from the Los Alamos County Manager’s Office, County Clerk Naomi Maestas will be taking  proactive measures to ensure the safety of citizens and employees. Beginning Thursday, Jan. 13, the County Clerk’s Office will suspend all in-person services and transactions, not made by appointment, for the next two weeks. Additional updates will be issued dependent upon information that presents  itself during the next two weeks. At this time, the County Clerk Office doors will remain locked, and  staff will process Drop-Box items and be available to assist customers, by appointment.

Customers are highly encouraged to continue to stay safe, and conduct business remotely by computer  or phone whenever possible, and limit in-person transactions to urgent matters. Any urgent matters  needing in-person services will be handled with COVID Safe Practices (CSP) in place, and by  appointment only.

To help manage traffic flow that complies with CSP’s, the Clerk’s Office has implemented an online  process to schedule appointments, a link is available on its website at http://www.losalamosnm.us/clerk.  Customers can also call the office at (505) 662-8010 or email clerks@lacnm.us to schedule an  appointment. “As we continue to monitor the COVID-19 crisis, my office will continue to respond appropriately and  adapt to any new challenges or directives, while continuing to serve the citizens of Los Alamos  County,” said Clerk Maestas. “I feel it is important to help ensure the safety and well-being of my staff  and the general public, and we ask for your patience, as some transactions may require an  appointment or take slightly longer than it would during normal operations.”

Clerk Maestas would like to remind customers of services that are available online, avoiding the need  to come into the office. To search the real estate document index or government documents, customers  may utilize the Online Records Portal. For searching probate and marriage records, or applying for a  marriage license, customers may use the Probate & Marriage Online Records Portal.
