Join the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) for a week full of special events! Tune in for PEEC’s final Summer Family Evening of 2021 on Wednesday, stop by for a Thursday night talk about bird banding and watch “Ghostbusters” in the planetarium this Friday evening. On Wednesday, July 28 at 6 p.m., PEEC will host its last Summer Family Evening of the year. This program will feature Los Luceros Historic Site and will take place over Zoom. Los Luceros Historic Site’s Instructional Coordinator, Carlyn Stewart, will give a virtual tour around the historic farm and introduce the animals that live at the site. Tune in to learn about traditional sheepherding in New Mexico and to virtually meet the property’s farm animals! Thanks to the Del Norte LOV Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Del Norte Credit Union, for sponsoring Summer Family Evenings in 2021!
Then, come to PEEC’s first in-person nature talk in over a year on Thursday, July 29 at 7 p.m. At this event, Bandelier National Monument’s Bird Banding Intern, Caroline Urban, will discuss what bird banding is, who does it and how Bandelier National Monument is collaborating with avian scientists and educators around the country and hemisphere to answer questions about our feathered friends. Because the nature center is now closed on Tuesdays, PEEC’s nature talks have moved to Thursday evenings.
Finally, enjoy a screening of the movie “Ghostbusters” on Friday, July 30 at 7 p.m. Watch this classic film on the big screen to get ready for this fall’s release of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” Pajarito Brewpub & Grill will be at this event serving beer and wine. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the movie will start at 7 p.m. Bring a picnic dinner to enjoy outside at the nature center before the movie!
