Join the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) and Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) for a Summer Family Evening on Wednesday, July 14 at 6 p.m. at the Los Alamos Nature Center! Learn about water-wise gardening and pollinators while exploring the gardens outside of the nature center. This event is free for all participants. Thanks to the Del Norte LOV Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Del Norte Credit Union, for sponsoring Summer Family Evenings in 2021!

Participants will get ideas about how to save water at home through activities about rainwater harvesting, drip irrigation, vegetable gardening and water-wise plants. You can pick up a free water conservation kit from the DPU, as well as milkweed seedlings to help feed monarch butterflies as they migrate!

Summer Family Evenings take place on Wednesdays in June and July. All events are made possible by the generous sponsorship of the Del Norte LOV Foundation! Learn more at peecnature.org/events.

PEEC was founded in 2000 to serve the community of Los Alamos. It offers people of all ages a way to enrich their lives by strengthening their connections to our canyons, mesas, mountains and skies. PEEC operates the Los Alamos Nature Center at 2600 Canyon Road, holds regular programs and events and hosts a number of interest groups from birding to hiking to butterfly watching. The Los Alamos Nature Center is currently closed due to COVID-19, but there are many ways to learn about nature and interact with PEEC online. PEEC activities are open to everyone; however, members receive exclusive benefits such as discounts on programs and merchandise. Annual memberships start at $35.
