Los Alamos High School 2021 graduate Audrey Nolen has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the New Mexico School Boards Association. She is one of 24 outstanding high school graduating seniors to receive this award.

Nominations for this scholarship were submitted by New Mexico Boards of Education representing eight regions. Selections were based on criteria including demonstrated leadership, academic performance, community involvement and extracurricular activities. 

“LAPS is very proud of and excited for Audrey,” said School Board President Melanie Colgan. “Her record of leadership, academics, and extra-curricular activities proves that this award is well-deserved. She has been an outstanding school board liaison for the last two years. We can’t wait to see what she will do next!”

Audrey has served a school board student liaison for two years. Student liaisons attend school board meetings and offer input on topics and agenda items. She was also the senior class president and editor of the yearbook. Audrey was named a National Merit Scholarship finalist and is the recipient of a National Merit Batelle scholarship.

She plans to attend Baylor University in the fall to study Sociology in the honors college in the pre-law track program.
