Maureen “Missy” O’Dea Hollander, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on Thursday, April 8th, 2021 in Rio Rancho, NM due to complications from her heart conditions.
Missy was born April 29th, 1953 to Dr. Hugh B. Woodward and wife Aileen in Rochester, NY, subsequently moving to Albuquerque, NM. She graduated from Highland High School in 1971, and obtained her BS in Nursing from the University of New Mexico in 1975. She married her High School sweetheart on August 12th, 1972 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM. She worked as a registered nurse for nearly 30 years, primarily at the Los Alamos Medical Center-OB. She retired to travel around the country with her husband as full time RV’ers. After 8 years on the road, they committed to purchasing a permanent home in Rio Rancho to be closer to family.
Missy is survived by her husband, Mark, of over 48 years; her sister, JW Turner (St. Petersburg, FL); brother, Martin Woodward and wife, Anna (Corryton, TN); and sister, Susie Riveras and husband, Michael (Rowlett, TX). She leaves behind four children and six grandchildren, Brian and wife, Jenni Hollander and their three children, Tanna, Carley, and Colton of White Rock, NM; Sean and wife, Attelia Hollander and their three children, Kaedyn, Berlyn, and Devlyn of White Rock, NM; Kimberly and husband, Chris Cubitt of Albuquerque, NM; and Jennifer Hollander of Albuquerque, NM.
Missy took pleasure in crafting, quilting, sewing, and providing handmade gifts to loved ones. She recently told her sons that her goal in life was to raise a large family, wholeheartedly support every activity together, and cherish every moment she could with her family and friends, which she felt she achieved. Missy served as president of the White Rock Little League, Girl Scout troop leader, camping director, Lamaze teacher, home care nurse, and opened her heart and home to each of her children’s friends. Missy unconditionally extended compassion and care to everyone she met.
A mass with intention will be held at St. Charles Borromeo in Albuquerque, NM. Family and friends will plan to celebrate her life at a future date.
